I have had the privilege to mentor delightful, young, enthusiastic SLP graduate students over the past nine years. As they depart, I usually send them off with a little something to start their SLP career. Here are a few of my suggested gifts.
You can't go wrong with a shirt from the Peachie Speechie. I have a couple of my own, but I particularly like this one for a new SLP grad.
I also have a fondness for my tumbler. You can find it here on Etsy. Here is a picture of the color I own. It even has my name on the back!
I am a huge Vera Bradley bag and accessory addict. I've been to a few outlet sales, but most often I just send my list with a dear friend who doesn't mind spending my money. Vera Bradley bags, notepads, pencils, and my personal favorite the brush and pencil cases for storing pens and pencils make perfect gifts for SLP grads. I'll spare you pictures of my collections. I might need to go for group support. On that note, my sister-in-law sells those cute 31 bags too. I've become quite fond of my All-Day Organizing Tote that I received as a birthday gift. It fits a whole collection of speech items for carting to and from therapy. Mine is in black and white chevron...LOVE! {Sorry, no picture, I'm down to the wire getting this posted!}
To round out my top picks, I am sticking with the staples...gift cards! Gifts cards to Starbucks and iTunes have topped my purchases in the past, but now I'm all about the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards. SLP grads need to know about the wealth of resources available on TPT for SLPs!
I have kept my recent grads stocked with items from my own store and feedback points me toward my monthly themed packs. I am guessing because these packs offer a collection of targets for a beginning therapist. I'm hoping to have these bundled for the entire year soon, but the summer list of things to do is already growing.
Another suggestion from my store would be my Thematic Open Ended Worksheets. Individual home practice is hard enough to compile for the veteran SLP. New therapists will surely need any resources available.
So, better late than never! Glad I snuck in this post. If you are graduating this year or even if you are in your first year as a speech-language pathologist, comment below and I'll choose one random winner to receive a copy of my Thematic Open Ended Worksheets!
Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to check out the other suggestions over at All Y'All Need!
